Homeschooling is a great way to get your children appropriate education. In a world where students are often over looked by overworked teachers parents who can, have the opportunity to step in. I have wittiness young children saying that they do not have to do their schoolwork because they are attending a no child left behind school. There are so many people in the Louisville alone that do not know how to read or write I see them every day. I wonder if they were those who were left behind in school. I see them having trouble or getting lost on the bus because they do not know how to read maps or street names. It is obvious these people have failed to learn the basics from the education system. In a school system where teachers are overworked it is very easy for students not to receive proper education for the most basic of grades. Sometimes a child needs the 1-on-1 approach that is not often readily available to students in crowded classrooms.
And instead of having the responsibility of having another adult “responsible” for their child’s education poor or great, the parent can now take pride knowing that they helped their child succeed in a difficult situation instead of sitting back and waiting to see what would happen.

The problem is not always the teacher or the school however; sometimes it’s the way a child learns. If a child cannot keep himself still in the classroom how is he or she going to learn? Also, there is a real concern for some parents about what their child is learning in regular school. Should a parent not find a certain class fit for their child’s education they have a right to pull them from that class. And in may cases a parent does know best should their child have specific needs not met in school.
The bond between parent and child gets stronger as well when a parent or parents remain the main authority figure in their lives. In a system where kids and adults too, learn from one another keeping your child home from bad influences is another consideration for homeschooling. Should morals be shaky or absent the parent has little control over what learning and social behavior their child sees (Los Angeles Times).
When homeschooled the child is only influenced by the parents and therefore has a consistent understanding or morals and basic good versus bad behavior. Social awkwardness is another stereotype homeschooled kids are faced with.
There is the idea that all homeschooled kids are loners, and they are unsociable and locked away where they never meet other people. This is not true there are many organizations that are set up to better the homeschooling experience by collaborating with multiple families who have the same goals in mind (NPR.com). The social stigma of the lone, hideaway student being over protected by their family is no longer the case. Many people who are against home schooling suggest that a parent couldn’t offer the same kind of fair and balanced education that a public or private school offers. In many cases that is true, but isn’t that the point? A child who is home schooled dumber than a child who was put in an educational system that didn’t challenge him and in several cases the opposite is true. Homeschooled children tend to mark higher on tests when presented with the same standardized test required by law to graduate (sonlight.com). Homeschooling is a traditional method by which people have learned about material presented in schools for generations. We should not stop it now just because it is not “normal” to today’s standards.
