The contemporary world can be regarded as one entity without undue boundaries because of globalization. Globalization has enabled people across the entire world to interact, share ideas, and do business without any unnecessary constrictions. Regardless of doing so, there are still prevailing rules and regulations guiding the movement from one region to the other. The entire frameworks can be clearly understood and explained using various geographical concepts such as the Assimilation, geo-literacy, ethnocentrism, immigration, emigration, pull factors, human nature, human geography culture, environmental twin, as well as the aspect of ethnicity.

The most pertinent issue in the current situation is the aspect of immigration and emigration. Most people have been migrating from one region to the other in such of greener pastures. Migration, especially to developed countries such as the United States, has often been marked with strict rules and regulations. The most significant identity that can allow an individual to enter this nation and many others is Visa card. Without this, an individual is regarded to be an illegal immigrant. Immigration and emigration are often influenced by the policies derived by the sitting government. For instance, the Trump administration influenced the rate of influx of immigrants when he issued strict immigration policies and deportation frameworks for illegal immigrants (Guinness & Nagle, 1999). This greatly influenced even the emigrants with full citizenship since they started feeling marginalized and out of place.

The diversity with regards to people’s decisions to settle on certain regions across the entire globe is often fueled by the aspect of geo-literacy. It is an aspect that allows people to focus on the most favorable conditions that best fits their situations before opting to relocate to specific regions. Geo-literacy framework is often backed up with the concept of the pull factors. An individual opts to focus towards East, West, or even the North poles based on his/her primary interests. The pull factors may comprise political stability, economic power, social spectrum, and prevailing climatic conditions, among many other significant factors (Rubenstein, 2015).

People who tends to settled in diverse regions have at one point experienced the aspect of ethnocentrism or assimilation. Ethnocentrism occurs when the entire populations views them or refers to them based on their cultural values. Ethnocentrism can at times be very detrimental in some specific situations fueled by religious inclinations or racism. For instance, the Trump’s immigration policies restricted citizens from particular regions deemed as Muslim nations. Moreover, most of them were deported as illegal emigrants. Such acts depicted a great sense of ethnocentrism whereby the Muslim community are often associated with violent and terror acts. On the other hand, assimilation is said to be occurring amongst the global nationalists who tends to traverse various nations. In this case, such groups develops a sense of common culture that greatly assimilates and bonds them (Pacione, 2009). Assimilation is also enhanced by ethnicity. People often bond together based on their subsequent ethnic backgrounds.

The final perspectives that determines the geographical settlement and movement of people are inclined to human nature, human geography culture, and the environmental twin. With regards to human nature or human geography culture, people are deemed to be accustomed to certain adaptations. Change in the prevailing environmental conditions may be due to global warming often forces some individuals to relocate to other geographical regions with their favorable climatic conditions (Bird, 2009). Basically, nature is the main determinant of any probable move undertaken by a human being. On the other hand environmental twin is imperative for immigrants moving from one cultural region to the other. It encompasses the act of cultural shedding whereby one tries to maintain his/her original cultural tradition while at the same time adopting the new culture slowly.
