Healthy physical, social, and emotional development of children from infancy, toddlerhood, and preschool years determines how the will grow up and develop during their later years. More specifically, researchers have proved that children who are likely to be attached to their parents during their earlier stages of life have better chances of growing healthily compared to their counterparts who are likely to be subjected to other developmental environments (Moodie et al., 2014). Thus, secure attachment of the infants should be upheld if healthy development of children should be achieved. During transition from infancy to toddlerhood, the developments of children are likely to be determined by how their parents will provide them with the underlying care and concerns that they require (Moodie et al., 2014).

Parents have better roles in foreseeing the development and progress of their children by providing them with basic necessities such as feeding, bathing, sleeping, and even toileting. Far from that, parents are also required to nurture their children to cope with various aspects of socialization. At toddlerhood, children should be shaped to fit themselves into the contemporary society. Finally, at preschool, children are substantially nurtured with capabilities of developing their social responsiveness and abilities to interact with other children (Angela & Ann, 2006).

Normal growth and development of children is described by children’s capabilities to attain the growth patterns that are prescribed universally for all children. More specifically, complete and balanced developments of children are portrayed by the underlying abilities of children to acquire social and psychological balance (Moodie et al., 2014). For instance, children who have capabilities of attaining social mobility have better chances of achieving the required development balance that they desire. Consequently, studies have shown that independent social mobility in children plays an integral role in improving social, cognitive, language, and other important aspects of the growth and development of children (Angela & Ann, 2006).

Besides, there is need for improving the existing social interaction in children with disabilities. Studies have shown that children are likely to gain more from their peers and the world around them if they were free to move independently to places of their choice. Children should also be assisted to improve their brain capabilities, cognitive functioning, language, and other significant developments. Normal children are essentially characterized by their underlying capabilities to grow and develop like other children. Thus, the attainment of the growth balance is cultivated by how they are protected and supported from infancy to toddlerhood and even preschool period (Dennis & O’connor, 2013).

Red Flag initiative has been a remarkable breakthrough that has been used by researchers and other children stakeholders to analyze the growth and development of their children. Red Flag provides the parents and other children caretakers with opportunities of assessing the physical and mental development of their children to determine whether they comply with the universal criterion that is used to ascertain healthy development of children. The underlying screening that should be conducted on children have to be designed in manner that will necessitate the capturing of the conditions of the children within the shortest time possible (Moodie et al., 2014).

Children should be subjected to proper screening before being referred to clinical interventions. Substantial proof should be supplemented regarding the conditions of children to ensure that the interventions that are supplemented to relieve them from their conditions are helpful (Moodie et al., 2014). Red Flag guidelines are there to supplement the parents and other caregivers with opportunities of analyzing and understanding the health conditions of their children to ensure that they are provided with the care and concern that can supplement their healthy developments. In conclusion, it should be noted that Red Flag initiative is a major intervention that has alleviated the level of care and concerns that are provided to children. More specifically, members of the public should be encouraged to cultivate and apprehend such initiative to ensure that their children are subjected to the care and concerns that they deserve (Moodie et al., 2014).
