Day 1: Monday, October 2nd, 2017

Cody arrived late for the Mathematics class. Cody appeared agitated and bad-tempered, precipitated by his morning encounter with the Vice principle, Ms Mitchell. He appeared distracted and did not concentrate in the morning session. Carole Pope successfully engages Cody – who was moody throughout the day – concerning his morning encounter. Since this is the core mandate of the CYCP, Cody embraced a positive attitude as the day ended. Nevertheless, there was an unfriendly communication between the teacher and Cody during his morning sessions. Cody avoided face-to-face communication by all means (even if it meant resting his head on his desk) and at some point, he used words like “…its fucking boring”. Contrariwise, his communication with his CYCP was calm.

During lunch the lunch break however he seemed dissatisfied with the food offered, referring to it as “shit”. He maintained a negative attitude throughout the planning meeting. As a latecomer, he rudely attempted to bypass the office on his way to class. Nevertheless, he appeared not to care what he was saying to his teacher given his rude response and use of vulgar language. Throughout the morning session, it was difficult to have a meaningful engagement with Cody, which surprisingly changed during the afternoon session. Day 2: Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017
Cody takes a breakfast bar angered while muttering under his breath, probably because he missed breakfast. He however arrives in class at 9.45 A.M and refuses to do Math citing that Math made him appear stupid, he was however inclined to his gifted Arts skills. Cody is defensive when he attempts to justify why he was late to class; he is somewhat selective as he interacts well with Roxy than his old classmates and even spare time to meet her. Cody explained to the CYPC that he was not willing to attend the lesson and he is not doing math either. The recent trigger events leading to the present poor communication would be a negative attitude towards math, unpunctuality to class and more love for Art than Math.

In the course of the day, Cody is seen engaging with a new female student, Roxy, showcasing his bravado. Throughout the encounter with Roxy, Cody was predisposed and he was keen to learn why she was kicked out of her school. During his afternoon hours however, he was focused on completing a resume writing a computer in the entire afternoon, probably because he wanted to meet Roxy. It was noted that he interested in the new girl to the extent that he timed his exit so that he could spend extra time with her while leaving the hall.

Day 3: Wednesday, October 4th, 2017
Cody refuses to go school since he had complained of a stomach ache. Janice Lang was interested to find out why Cody skipped school, so she had earlier called to find out about his whereabouts. In the afternoon hours Cody is seen leaving the premise; his whereabouts were not known during the afternoon hours.

Day 4: Thursday, October 5th, 2022
Interestingly, Cody was punctual and arrived at 8.45 A.M before class starts. He appeared energized to the extent of attending the Art class. However he was uncomfortable when asked about his absence the previous day citing that the teacher doubted his sickness. Cody’s response, “I was sick…I know you thought I was lying”, was protective in that he knew that his excuse was not a viable explanation. He further went on to suggest that his unaccounted afternoon hours were “his business”. In the course of the day he comfortably and willingly helps in various activities such as breakfast clean up, attending drama and Anger Management Group. It is evident that Cody wants to be independent, in that he does not want his actions questioned. Despite the morning encounter, he seemed jovial and enthusiastic with the other students.
