Information technology has enabled me to come up with my own blog. Through this blog, I can play around ideas, thoughts and opinions to thousands of web users around the world. Apart from the ideas and opinions, I can also share images and videos with the other web users. IT knowledge also helps me in sharing links to other posts on this blog. These links can easily be accessed by the other web users.

While in university, I use the IT knowledge in a number of ways. For example; I use computers in electronic delivery of tests to my lecturers. I use the packages like the Question Mark and Examine, all of which supports the delivery of a variety of question types. I also use computers in electronic recording and analysis of results. For example, after tackling research study, I use computer in the analysis of the findings and eventually record them using the same. At times, I also use the computer in taking notes during class time. Here I use applications such as the Ms Word and Excel. The use of computers in learning saves me a lot of time.

The communication aspect of computer has been very helpful. I have used emails to communicate with classmates and supervisors in the course of my academic work. In creation, storage and editing of word documents, I have frequently used Microsoft Word and Word Star. My project proposals have always been done using this software before mailing them to my supervisors.

The computer spreadsheets have been helpful to me in making calculations related to my course work and business. MS Excel and IBM Lotus have been part of the components of information technology that I have relied upon (Mahr 2010, p.15). When working on my project, I have used Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to create attractive slides for my final work.
Smart phones have also helped me in communicating with friends and colleagues. The use of the Short Message Service has been indispensable for quick messages when the time to call is limited. Using the various applications in my phone I have been able to send questions as part of my survey work. This I have frequently done using the applications such as, Flash share, Share it and Bluetooth. Through the use of its photo applications, I have kept people updated on my location by sending them the pictures. This has also been made successful through the use of applications such as, Watsup, Instagram and facebook. The smart phone also enables me to store a variety of information. The information can be easily stored in the phones memory or in the memory cards. I collect this information through taking photos, capturing of videos or through recording of audios.

IT has become indispensable in the present day organizational setting. In the field of communication between employees, suppliers and customers, I will use various electronic means such as emails and telephones (Mahr 2010, p.20). Live chat systems and videoconferencing may also be the means I will use to communicate in real time with those that are far away. The lack of this skill will render me irrelevant to the company.

Data management is the other area where I intend to use IT in my future career. Organizations in these days do not have large rooms to keep files and cabinets relating to the information they require. Consequently, they devise electronic means to create and store the information they require. Details of employees, suppliers, and clients among others are safely kept in electronic databases. The database management system has become an electronic alternative to large files for keeping information. The digital versions of these documents are safe and also cheap to store. They are readily available to the authorized persons regardless of where they stay through the online transmissions. Such technology will be indispensable in my future career (Mahr 2010, p.23).

The skills I have acquired will be helpful in the area of inventory management in the future. Organizations use technological means to monitor and maintain the level of stock required. By the use of point of sale systems, the organizations maintain communication and link between all the concerned departments to ensure that the level of stock in the organization is always correct. These in turn eliminate inconvenience and disappointment to customers. I would love to contribute to the efficiency of my future career by embracing such a technology.

The use of computer systems to collect and maintain data is an area where my knowledge in IT will be helpful. In aiding market research, companies collect a wide range of consumer data and details to enable them make correct decisions (Mahr 2010, p.56). I will be helpful in my future career by helping them get the adequate data to execute their strategy.
Digital marketing forms the other possible application of my IT skills. Given that several potential clients to organizations use the internet, digital marketing has become a ready solution. I can digitally create sales messages and content for the online market. That will help the organization achieve its strategic goal.

IT has become indispensable in the today’s organizational setting. In the process of learning, I have acquired some of the necessary skills that will assist me in the future career. The field of IT is highly dynamic so I will continue improving my skills. Remaining with the present set of skills will make me redundant if I do not work towards perfecting my knowledge. I plan to enroll in an IT college to update my skills.
