The Importance of College Degree for a Teacher

443 words | 2 page(s)

The position of a teacher is one of the dreams I have managed to achieve. Currently, I am a head teacher at Walnut Ridge Child Development Center. Though I enjoy my job, I comprehend the necessity to enhance my knowledge to ensure my further professional evolution and progress. I intend to increase the level of my education and get a college degree to be able to teach 4th and 5th grades at a public school. Furthermore, a college education will improve the quality of my knowledge and enhance my status as a teacher. I did not have a chance to get a High School diploma because I had my son at 17. Nevertheless, I managed to get a GED which was a huge success for me. Now I feel it is essential to grow professionally and learn to transform or adjust the teaching approaches depending on the educational settings.

A college degree is my chance to improve the initial teacher training I have and to enhance the quality of my skills to succeed in the classroom environment which will be new for me. I believe it will encourage me to apply some new methods of teaching and employ the reflective and innovative approaches. It will ensure the enhancement of my professionalism, improve my teaching knowledge and help to develop a better understanding of pedagogy. Though I enjoy working with small children, I feel that I can do so much more if I had proper training and qualifications. It would make me more confident in my abilities to share my knowledge with the students and engage them effectively in the process of learning. I am committed to my job, but I feel that a college degree will motivate me to develop new strategies to cooperate with them.

Overall, a college degree will facilitate employment of a more reasonable and settings-relevant approach in the classroom. I will be able to receive and share the cutting-edge knowledge and share it both with the students and fellow teachers. A college degree is my step forward in the direction of professional development, employment of innovative strategies and methods of teaching, and the ability to offer some changes to the daily routines to improve the school performance values. The teaching standards are regularly updated, so getting a college degree will also refresh the current knowledge but also raise the awareness of the new teaching techniques. Professional development is one of the most critical factors in teachers because they should be able to deliver qualified and professional service to the children. I intend to develop professionally so that my students will be satisfied with their teacher’s actions, methods, and techniques.
