Rutgers University is one of the oldest and most well respected research universities in the nation. With 60% of the undergraduates at the university engaging in original research, it is apparent that a Rutgers education not only prepares students for careers in the field that they desire. The education presented to the students teaches them to be innovators on the cutting-edge of new developments in those fields. This is especially important in field such as engineering and science where the landscape changes quickly as new developments emerge.
I feel that a Rutgers education will help me achieve my goal of building a career in the engineering field by offering my the best possible access to leading faculty members, researchers, advanced technology, courses and more to enhance my educational experience. Coming from Middlesex County College with a 3.66 GPA, I am prepared for the demands that will be placed on me academically at Rutgers University and in its Engineering and Science Department.

With nine academic engineering departments and programs that make up the Engineering and Science Department at Rutgers University, I will have access to all of the courses and materials that I need to prepare me for a thriving career in the engineering field. Furthermore, with a variety of minors and second majors to choose from in that department, I will have adequate opportunities to broaden my range of knowledge so that I can be a well-rounded graduate of Rutgers University.
In addition, I believe that the over 40,000 students at Rutgers University will allow me the opportunity to interact with people from other backgrounds, of other races, and of other nationalities to improve my college experience. Moreover, the Scarlet Knights athletic competitions will give the students the chance to root for a top notch Big Ten team and have fun while receiving a quality education.
