Learning is an important aspect of human beings. It is a way of acquiring knowledge from others or sometimes learning by own. According to Lovett (2015) success of life comes through learning and acquiring knowledge and new skills. Learning started around 2000 years ago in the times of Greek philosophers, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Plato and Aristotle were one of the early entrants to teach people how to learn. Later in the 19th century, psychologist Charles Darwin stared conducting a test to understand how people learn and to understand the best practice of learning through a scientific approach. Later on, Edward Thorndike who is known as the father of modern education tried to bring in a better scientific approach to learning. He introduced the behaviorist theories which he describes how mental connections are formed through the positive response of stimuli.

According to Gardner (2016) the mind is set up to process the stimuli to draw the connection between what one learns. People learn by making sense of the environment around them. However, working one on one with students makes them understand better due to the active learning process between the teacher and student. Active learning is where the student engages with the material and collaborates with the teacher for better understanding. One on one with the students helps them to learn and understand much better because each one of them has a different personality and understanding level compared to the other. Do not expect the students to listen and memorize on their own instead it is important to help them individually to demonstrate a process, apply a concept to real world or analyze and argument.

People learn through their thoughts and emotions so through one on one teaching it is easier to understand what one feels about a certain topic hence improving their understanding. According to Rooney (2016) One on one teaching helps in understanding mega cognitive skills were one can think and monitor what they are feeling. Therefore, working one on one with the students will able the learners to manage their learning process, to understand new topics much better because they can ask direct questions and also assist them to solve problems efficiently.

Through one on one learning the students easily learns how to trust their instructors due to the free space to share. They can easily express themselves and their issues handled directly by their instructors. Students are different from each other, and you will find that some will have the phobia of asking questions or making mistakes in a classroom setting (Bannister 2016). Through one on one environment, the teachers will organize the information which needs to be given to specific students. Learning with understanding will happen when each student is provided with categories of understanding personally through gauging the level of understanding of each student. The relationship between the teacher and the student is likely to be stronger and with better understanding because the teacher will know the capabilities of the student and areas which they can improve to achieve better results of the student.

The advantage of one on one learning is that the student will have the full concentration of the instructor which means that there will be more chances to engage in real communication and direct feedback from the student and the teacher. Due to the undivided attention, the learner will have more control over the subject while the teacher will have direct feedback on the students understanding. The immediate feedback will develop a real and productive relationship which will also enhance the students understanding better. The teacher will also develop a coherent curriculum by understanding the student which he is teaching (Durham 2016).
