The United States and other nations in the world are subjected to constant terrorist threats. The 9/11 catastrophe was one of the most significant in the United States as it led massive infrastructural destruction and the loss of several lives. The disaster was also elemental for the United States because it demonstrated that terrorism was one of the biggest concerns that needed attention. Besides the United States, the terrorists have operated in various countries across the globe leading to numerous deaths and loss of lives (Mathieu, 2010). As a result, the United States in collaboration with other countries have adopted strategies to assist in mitigating the issue.

The global terrorist challenges are caused by networks of criminals that are well coordinated across the world. Consequently, countering the terrorism has become one of the biggest agendas in the United States and other states across the world. This has led to a massive investment of resources to assist in the control and mitigation of the criminals that advance terrorism (Merari, 2013). The criminals that cause the terrorists exist in various parts of the world and they thrive in a wide range of cultural orientations. Therefore, a combined effort of the world has been essential in the control of the criminal activity.

One of the strategies that have been used by the united to fight terrorism is through defining the threat. The definition of the threats is an essential step towards enhancing the level of security (Merari, 2013). The definition of the threats is an endeavor that assist the security agencies to study the structural and cultural orientation of the terrorism in order to devise effective strategies to mitigate the issue (Mathieu, 2010). The definition of the terrorism involves the study of the trends of attack by the security agencies in order to establish certain waves and trends that have been used to prevent the attacks. The studying of the terrorism is heavily based on the information that is acquired from previous attacks in the United States and across the world. Understanding terrorists can also be achieved through getting information on the formation of the groups that advance the terrorism and knowing their structural alignment including their commanding structure. Understanding this information has assisted the United States and other nations to know how these criminal execute their operations. As a result, several terrorism interceptions have been made, and this has assisted in saving the lives and reducing the incidence rates of terrorists activities.

The United States has invested heavily in the security apparatus. This is through the acquisition of more security personnel that undergo intense training on the matters associated with terrorism. Terrorists has various effects on the economy of the country. This is because of the challenges that is causing that are associated with an inability and social discomfort among the people. Therefore, The United States dedicated massive resources towards control of the terrorism (Mathieu, 2010). The resources committed to the management of terrorism in the United States have assisted in undertaking various activities associated with promoting the security. The acquisition of more security personnel and buying of good facilities for the security agencies is some of the areas that have been enhanced.

The use of technology by the United States has been instrumental towards reducing terrorists. The application of intelligence and information systems provides realistic ways through which the terrorist networks are cracked down by the American security personnel. The United States has also invested in sophisticated training for the security officers that use the information systems to crack on the terrorist links. The information systems have also been used to gather some intelligence information through the satellite technologies to control the terrorism activities (Merari, 2013).

The definition of terrorism has been changing over the years (Sageman, 2004). The high rate of globalization and the emergence of information systems have been very instrumental towards driving the changes experienced in terrorists. This is because the terrorists have embraced the information systems in the development of complex networks through which they communicate and execute various attacks. The sophisticated information system have also assisted the terrorists in developing intelligence systems to track the activities of security agencies so as to develop ways of reducing executing attacks (Mathieu, 2010). The progressive nature of terrorism characterized with consistent change of strategies makes it very dangerous.

Various countries have acquired various strategies to assist in mitigating the increased danger of terrorism in the world. The threat of terrorism has initiated then formulation of some control measures to keep pace with the evolving nature of terrorism. The increase of surveillance on the citizens has been used by various countries to heighten security to control the terrorism. The initiation of the control measures by the countries after the constant evolution of terrorism is typical representation of the slippery slope ideology (Merari, 2013).

The most practical ways to manage terrorists across the world is through the adoption and execution of a comprehensive strategy is very important. The strategy must include the development of a global security agency that connects the security agencies from various countries. The coordination can include the sharing of security information to assist in stopping the security threats (Mathieu, 2010). The global security agencies should also embrace the use of proactive measures like developing complex surveillance mechanisms that will always be ahead of the strategies applied by the terrorists. Therefore, international cooperation and intensive application of intelligence are elemental towards defeating terrorism.
