Kit Armstrong was born on March 5, 1992 in Los Angeles, California into a family of British and Taiwanese heritage. His first exposure to the piano was at age 5 when he taught himself composition by reading an encyclopedia and soon after began formal training in piano. Kit was not only musically gifted, but also possessed a brilliant intellect. At the age of 7, he began studying science and mathematics at the University of Utah. By the time he reached age 10, he had completed high school and composed nearly 15 original musical compositions.
At age 12, Kit enrolled in the Curtis Institute of Music to study piano and within a year moved to London to study further at the Royal Academy with Benjamin Kaplan. Kit Armstrong has been a regular student of Alfred Brendel’s since 2005. Brendel describes Kit as “the greatest talent he has ever encountered,” and continues to be a strong influence in his life.

Kit has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the word such as the London Philharmonic under the direction of Christoph von Dohnányi. His recital solo appearances have included Vienna, Berlin, Florence, Paris and Munich. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including ASCAP‘s prestigious Charlotte V. Bergen award.
As Kit approaches his twenty second birthday, he has made an indelible mark in classical music, achieving world wide acclaim for his abilities as a pianist and composer. The early discovery of his intelligence and aptitude for music allowed him to develop technical skill at an extremely young age. As a result, he is now respected and exalted for his maturity as an artist.
