We are only given one life to realize our potential and this realization was a major factor in my decision to return to school to pursue a career in the medical field. Medicine was always my dream as a child but certain life circumstances led me to a career in law. But I never lost my passion for medicine and in addition, I also knew medicine would enable me to make greater difference in the society than a career in legal profession. I also hope my life will inspire others that it is never too late to pursue your dream because success does come to those who don’t give up.
I feel comfort in the fact that medical professionals have one of the brightest career prospects in terms of both job security and career earnings but even a greater motivation for me to pursue medicine is the potential to make difference in the lives of countless people. I am not oblivious to the fact that demand for healthcare services will grow at a greater pace than supply because of diverse range of factors such as aging population and growing health awareness. Thus, this will also be my way of giving back to America which has been very good to me and has allowed me to pursue my dreams.
