If employers gave their employees a greater sense of responsibility in the workplace would that lead to a better quality of work and a higher sense of self esteem for the workers? My hypothesis is that sometimes what a worker lacks is a sense of importance and feeling like they are needed by their employer. If the employee feels appreciated and trusted the quality of performance and attitude will improve significantly.

This is a question involving quality in the workplace and would be best tested via a case study thereby attaining firsthand results from the employees in question. In order for this to become more quantitative I would have the employees partake in a survey of how they currently feel in their workplaces and what they think would be a solution to better that environment. Quality in the workplace is a leading factor in how the employee feels about their job and how good their performance is. Qualitative research is a sound method to addressing the individual concern of the worker, thus achieving better results.

As Albert Bandura theorized, self efficacy plays a major role in how a worker performs at his or her workplace (Darr, Ebel-Lam, & Doucet, 2018). Essentially if one has the belief they can accomplish a task or overcome a challenge that will change how one addresses said task or challenge, thus also changing the outcome. If employers gave their workers more encouragement and positive feedback as well as greater opportunities the employee would feel more room to grow and succeed. I would have the employers decide in what ways they can alter their workplace insomuch that their workers can have more freedom whether it be a variety in tasks to accomplish or having a say in their own work schedule.

From these options the employees could choose which they would like best, implement the change and gather data on how the performance and attitudes of the workers have altered. I would see if changing how new employees are trained would improve overall workplace perspective; for example if involving all employees more during new recruits’ training would be beneficial or detrimental. Making sure the employees are aware that their work and the quality thereof is vital for the success of the company they work for is a vital aspect to the research. Having periodic surveys to check in with the workers and their employers would also help track the progress being made and any corrections needed.
