Reality Enhanced

With fast-paced technology, there are new ideas being developed from left and right. Innovative engineers and other visionaries are able to work towards the prospect of creating almost anything, whether it is virtual reality, artificial intelligence or other forms of technology that were only previously known in sci-fi movies and books. Consequently, it is likely that the future of technology is very bright but will also change the world as we know it today. With the internet specifically, I predict that it will be developed into an even larger database than it already is. Research and other actions could be facilitated by other forms of technology, such as external gadgets or robots. For example, a watch, glasses or earpieces could be developed that can conduct various internet searches based on brainwaves and other signals it can pick up on regarding topics of interest. In the first article, there was a mention of people who have lost body parts being able to acquire a certain level of functionality due to the additional apparatus picking up on brain signals to mirror the original body parts. Therefore, it is likely that things like this could be applied to knowledge as well, allowing people to complete various tasks across the internet due to the brain working with the gadgets without the use of something in between, such as a person actually typing in their desired website search. Moreover, virtual reality could be implemented into the internet, making various aspects appear more real. For example, if someone were to type in a search to watch a movie, then the use of VR would make it appear as if the individual is actually living what happens in the movie. This would significantly alter perception. Another idea is incorporating artificial intelligence through robots in order to anticipate the needs of humans. After spending enough time around an individual and getting to know their hobbies, tendencies, internet usage, etc., the robot could speed up any tasks that need to be completed through the internet. All of these things would be designed to improve technological capabilities.

I believe that all of these ideas could benefit my friends and coworkers because it would make tasks easier for them. Specifically for people who work in the technology industry, or even the medical field where technology can be applied, this would change the way we think about communication, curing diseases and other issues. Moreover, if people work in an industry where it is difficult to perform various tasks up to speed or to a certain level, they may be able to program a robot to perform it more efficiently. With a database over the internet that is even larger than it is now, people will be able to communicate with one another on completely different levels. This could make it possible for companies to communicate worldwide and perhaps they would not even need to have a physical location for headquarters because all of the employees would have the information they need stored inside of a small gadget. This could also help companies to save money on operating expenses, assuming the technology itself eventually becomes affordable enough once it is being commonly used by the public. Although many aspects of technology are exciting and promising for the future, there are also potential ethical considerations to think about. If a robot or gadget stores personal information regarding an individual, then it is always possible for that to be hacked or compromised. In the case of working for a company, it may then become difficult for people to separate their personal and work lives if they are required to use the same types of gadgets to perform their everyday tasks. This is all under the assumption that all gadgets and technology would be connected. Moreover, there has been an ongoing debate regarding the future of artificial intelligence and robots because there is always a chance that they could begin to evolve on their own and eventually overtake humanity. Although this specifically seems well into the future, it is not entirely impossible, given the rapid advancements and the desire to almost recreate the human brain. However, many people are concerned about this and do not agree with the ethics behind it because they believe that human consciousness cannot be recreated.
