Regardless of the massive achievement that has occurred over the years, healthcare providers still have a big challenge in wound healing despite the considerable experience that has been acquired. The complication is enhanced by the emergence of chronic wounds that present complex medical conditions (ANA, 2014). These wounds cause a lot of physical and mental discomfort and suffering and thus affecting the level of independence, financial restrains and the general physical health. Management of these wounds utilizes a lot of clinical facilities. In other cases, these wounds develop acute conditions that require long-term care and thus utilizing massive resources.

In reducing the prevalence of these medical complications, various attempts to adopt the use of evidence based practices in the management of wounds have been advanced. These practices provide guidelines and regulations on the best ways to asses and treat chronic wounds. This is based on the best practices that have been acquired from clinical research models through application of medical expertise and the preferences of the patients. The major aim of these evidence based practices is top adopt the best ways in making decisions regarding medical conditions. These practices also enhance the application of consistent operations across various healthcare facilities. Evidence based practices address the dynamic nature of healthcare through sophisticated and high quality research activities (Clinical Education, 2014).

In using evidence-based practices, healthcare transformation and quality improvement is critical to the endeavor. In order to ensure that the practices are efficiently implemented, a propagative environment is very crucial in the healthcare organizations and facilities. This calls for significant redesigning in healthcare so as to take full advantage of the new developments. Structural and social realignments in the organizations are very crucial so as to advance the theory and model development based on engagement of scientific research. This requires significant change in the strategies that are applied in healthcare (NCBI, 2011).

In the wound care task that I performed, I had to adopt practices that were applicable to my level of expertise and the resources that were at my disposal. The procedures that I used relied of cultural considerations and the professional ethics attached to the practice (Clinical Education, 2014). The most critical part of the operation was the assessment of the wound to ascertain the level of infection. This was very essential because it assisted to adopt proactive measures to ensure that the wounds do not form further complications. At this level, I had to determine the level of infection.

It was very important that had to apply sophisticated assessment tools ASPS, (2014). These include validated and appropriate screening. In cases of delayed treatment, identity of the stage of the stage was crucial because it assisted me prescribe the most appropriate medical and nutritional advancements. Strategic monitoring of the progress of the treatment was very crucial in the bid to determine the levels of improvement. This assisted to take the necessary steps to ensure that the recovery process is up to date. Persistence of some wounds had to call for sophisticated attention through advanced diagnosis. In these cases, reference to the chart reviews and other forms of documentation was essential so as to acquire diverse approaches that had been applied to manage the condition (Bogie, 2013).

Most of the practices that I adopted were heavily reliant of evidence that had been documented through research. The method used depended on the objectivity of the records and the research. This is because all the practices were embedded on timely, accurate and comprehensive assessment. The extreme conditions were managed by the use of records and data that had been successfully applied. The recommendations were also of great importance to most of the operations. The importance and applicability of the research endeavors was also evident through the use of documented data and information in the discovery of the baffling factors, identification of etiology and in the confirmation of the diagnosis. The use of these documents was spearheaded by the provisions of the organization that allow strategic reference to the accredited documents towards mitigation of chronic conditions.

There are various barriers that can inhibit implementation of evidence based practices (NCBI, 2011). One of the most common factors is difficulty in determining the applicability of the research findings. This is because most experts lack the knowledge that can assist them in linking practical situations to research findings. This can also be as a result of inconsistency in various research findings and recommendations. Some of the healthcare providers have difficulties in comprehending and understanding evidence that is provided in the research findings. This is very important towards the application of these findings. The risk is further alleviated by inappropriate application of the research findings leading to practices that put the lives of patient in danger and thus reducing the quality of healthcare.

To ensure that there is appropriate application of the research findings, healthcare providers and administrators need to change the cultures of operation to in the organizations. This can be through initiating programs that can assist people to overcome the apparent resistance to change. One of the most practical ways to do so is to ensure that they have faith and trust in research findings. This is through outlining authenticity and objectivity of the researches (NCBI, 2011). The medical experts should be taken to strategic seminars to be trained on the best ways of interpreting research findings and applying them.

Therefore, healthcare is a very dynamic activity. This is because various medical conditions keep changing through evolutions and mutations. Traditional and incumbent ways handling these medical conditions may not be effective in handling these medical conditions (ANA, 2014). Evidence-based practices are very crucial towards providing the most practical and realistic procedures to handle the unique medical conditions. Healthcare facilities should be in a good position to enhance flexibility through adopting these measures. Healthcare professionals should be equipped with critical and relational skills to apply research documentations to improve the safety and quality of healthcare services.
