Evidence of how personal leadership qualities have been practiced in a professional nurse setting

I have applied my personal leadership qualities in various aspects within the nursing profession. As a professional nurse, my commitment has been evident in carrying out my duties. I am always committed to ensure that I deliver the best and quality services to patients through professional counselling, support, and provision of medical assistance. I am always on time at my place of work to ensure that the patients I take care of get to take their medicine and other provisions at the right time. Evidence of my communication leadership qualities are evident in the way I articulate ideas to my team members and the recommendation I have got from patients who have commended with the way I communicated with them effectively (Curtis, 2011). The leadership quality of positive attitude is evident in the manner I handle various challenging issues at my place of work. I understand that my profession is sometimes quite challenging and requires me to maintain a positive attitude especially when handling a difficult situation.

3 examples of how personal leadership qualities have been influenced for the past 5 weeks
First, my personal leadership quality of commitment has largely been influenced by thorough understanding of the need to be committed to my profession not only because I am required so the health care setting regulations but also as a personal trait. I have learned to make the quality of commitment as part of me when delivering health care services to the society. Through the understanding of health care best practices, my leadership quality of communication has been influenced especially based on the fact that sharing of information and ideas is an important aspect.

I have learned the several of improving my communication skills through adequate understanding of what the patient wants and also sharing concise information regarding patient history with other health care professionals (Curtis, 2011). Lastly, the personal leadership quality of positive attitude has been influenced in the manner that I have significantly learned how to approach different difficult and dilemma situations in an health care setting. My attitude towards the less privileged, people with different characters and needs has largely been influenced.

Leadership style the student most closely identifies with
The leadership style I am most closely identified with is positive attitude. This is because demonstrating positive attitude is the core to ensure quality delivery of health care services especially considering that the profession requires an individual with an ability to handle different challenges and individuals with diverse issues. Positive attitude can also enhance my ability to be more committed and consequently be able to learn other traits such as good communication skills.

Description of 3 processes student will take to maintain or redefine their own leadership style
The first process to maintain my leadership style is through continuous learning using various resources available. Learning will be through on job, attending workshops, continuing my education, attending seminars, and enrolling in short term courses. The second process is through experience. Through the working experience, I will able to understand how to approach different scenarios and the kind of approach the scenarios would need (Curtis, 2011). The third process is embracing the habit of successful role models especially senior doctors and nurses. I can observe them and learn what they do and how they handle their team members and situations.

Description of 3 processes student will take to maintain or redefine their role as a leader in the nursing profession
The first process to maintain my role as a leader in the nursing profession is also through learning and furthering my education in order to acquire deeper leadership skills. The second process is promoting cohesiveness among my fellow nursing professionals and sharing of different ideas which can impact the nursing fraternity. The third process is playing a key role in articulating for more recognition of the nursing profession in the society by the relevant state and federal government agencies.
