The article, “KC-390 enters production phase of development” and “US Marines’ LAV SLEP enters production phase” both focus on military inventions. The KC-390 aircraft designed by Embraer and the Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) are products designed for efficiency. The KC-390 ensures that search and rescue in military settings are enhanced while the LAV SLEP confirms that soldiers have a suitable vehicle that can run military operations in volatile situations (Jennings, 2014). These two products have quality features. The quality of the KC-390 is evident. It can carry a load of up to 23 tons (or 19 tons when moving a range of 2,000 miles) and has a 36,000 fit service ceiling.

With such large capacity, the KC-390 gives the military an effective way of carrying sufficient materials such as amour and gunpowder at a larger capacity and the soldiers still fit in the aircraft easily. The KC-390 is designed to enhance the efficiency of military operations. Similarly, the Lev SLEP armored vehicle quality is evident in the product design. The vehicle is designed for survivability, sustainability, reliability, improved operation and support. For example, the vehicle has add-on camouflage panels that have the ability to reduce visual and thermal signature (Markit, 2002). This design is also included in the vehicle’s exhaust and wheel covers among other parts of the vehicle. The LEV SLEP vehicle is enhanced for military operations to make it valuable during the day and night.

One evident difference between the two products is that KC-390 has already been ordered by various countries for development. This shows its viability because consumers are already indicating that they can see its benefits. Embraer Company has received approximately 60 orders for the KV-390. Brazil ordered 28, Colombia 12, and Czech Republic 2. Argentina, Chile, and Portugal each ordered 6. This makes the KC-390 a superior product because consumers already want to have it.

Consumers trust the product. As a result, it should have a competitive edge on the market (Jennings, 2014). The LEV SEP is purely being designed by the United States’ Marine Corps (USMC) to be used within the country. The product is not being designed to attract consumers but to be used to improve the operations in the U.S. military. The LEV SEP and the KV-360 are designed for different reasons; therefore, they cannot compete against each other (Markit, 2002).
